when it turned to cold air it does not make the noise. Problem with AC/heater - Ford Explorer The problem in the rear is likely the rear heater control valve, which regulates the flow of hot.
Also, the heater control valve under the hood may not be opening completely. It could also be a problem with the blend door actuator not opening the blend.

Annette,if heater hose,s are warm,there is heat to the heater core,it is not flipping over,check what i said,and you will I had the same issue with no heat. I had it replaced and new door installed.
